Orchitis is a testicular infection and inflammation; it is normal in male dogs. It is usually caused by damage or trauma to the scrotum, such as bites or burns. Bacteria enter the wound and spread from the bladder or prostate through the spermatic ducts.

Symptoms of Orchitis in Dogs may include: 

    • Testes that feel firm and warm while touching
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fever
  • Infertility

Signs of orchitis are the pain and swelling of the testicles and licking of the scrotum. The testicles become swollen and stiff. The dog takes a legged pose and moves with a stilted gait.

What Is The Treatment Of Orchitis In Dogs?

Healthcare: supportive regimens—reduction of environmental heat or other discomfort.

Activity: Restrict, if the activity or use is thought to cause a rise in body temperature. No limits on other causes of infertility.

 

Diet: Ensure proper diet and mineral supplements, as advised by the veterinarian of your pet. Avoid supplementation of products containing excessive or undetermined levels of steroid hormones (such as extracts of testicles, ovaries and adrenal glands).

Surgery: Surgical reattachment of blocked ducts has been effective in a number of cases.
